The Lightbox
The Lightbox is a photography light that can be customized with covers to make many different light patterns. It was designed for Mattheus Elwood. He wished to have a light that would create interesting patterns in people’s eyes when he shot through it. After looking through various forms of photography lights, I struck upon the idea of letting him customize the light via covering parts of it, and thus the Lightbox was created.
The Lightbox was designed in Fusion 360 (My first real project in it) and designed with laser cutting, waterjet cutting, and 3d printing methods in mind for manufacture. It has a standard sized screw hole attachment point, which can attach to most tripods or stands, and temperature control.
I achieved temperature control by combining a cool LED and a warm LED that would both brighten and darken as controlled by a dial. See below for my tinkercad prototype:
