The Elecflippity
The average electricity usage of a New Zealand household is 7,900 kwh, yet most people will never know what their electricity usage is or just how much they might be wastefully using. This can be caused due to various reasons, but the main problem is that users simply don’t know how to access and use the app offered by power companies. Elecflippity solves this problem by visualizing this data in a simple and easy to understand manner. By offering various units for the user to scroll through, the user can also learn just how much each kWh truly is by simplifying it to more understandable measurements such as money or even cheeseburgers for a younger audience.
This product was created by our design team, Zign. We applied the Double Diamond Design Process in its creation, as this laid out a clear structure that we could follow. Through each step, we would equally distribute the work by focusing on each designer’s strengths and weaknesses, so that the final product would be of a higher quality. While we are pleased with our final product as it effectively solves our design problem, with more time we could further develop the mechanics of the design and test our product through user testing and 3D modelling to polish any changes that might have been needed.
