The Character Sheet Project

A few weeks ago I wrote a post on Spark AR, and how it was not the correct tool to use for a certain project I wanted to do. Then just a bit ago I wrote another post on Vuforia, which is the correct tool for this project. Well, now I've done that project.

It took a bit of finagling, but I managed to get a prototype working. I didn't do much low fidelity prototyping, as this was a pretty simple idea. The main hurtle was getting it to recognize the character sheet, which I experimented and found success with in my last post of Vuforia.

I made the rest of the code pretty easily, finding some issues with Unity not liking small text boxes.
I fixed those issues, although had some more trouble with scaling the AR projections to the sheet. I wasn't able to fix these quickly, so for the prototype just had an AR image of the character sheet (correctly scaled) appear in-front of the real character sheet.

I think it turned out pretty well, and do plan to continue with it and try to complete it. I at least plan to share the prototype with the Mothership community discord to see what they think of it.
